Guilty Pleasure Fridays: Yummies!

I have a best friend who is one of the best bakers I’ve ever known. It started when we were little. She would have to babysit her little brothers if her parents would go out for the night and when they came home, she would always have some sort of baked good waiting for them on the counter. I think she’s the best because she caters to my obsession with fluffiness. Her cookies are moistly textured without any doughy-ness (although, I wouldn’t mind that either since I prefer cookies before they go in the oven…aka dough). The presentation of them and cakes, cupcakes, muffins and breads are magazine worthy. The best part: she doesn’t even know how good she is so she always puts her everything into every single batch she bakes.

She and her recipes have inspired my own desire to delve into the baking world. I’ve always been more of a cook. Although, when I was around kids all the time, I would bake at least once a week. I saw it more as an activity, an opportunity to teach some kind of lesson and a great thing to do when you have time to kill and antsy kids. When I stopped being a nanny, I stopped baking. I didn’t see a reason. Thankfully, my best friend has shown me that it’s something you can do for yourself, adults and loved ones.

The other part? Lack of confidence in myself. Specifically: I didn’t trust myself to be alone in the safety of my own kitchen with butter, sugar and  yummies. However, I’ve proven to myself that control is not an issue (plus I just lost 5lbs after 2 weeks of eating yummies and no work outs).

Anyway, I’m feeling so inspired by my amazingly talented BFF (and Pinterest) that I want to pass it on because I’m a fan of the domino effect. Here’s some interestingly delicious ideas…enjoy!
